Elizabeth Melanson is a former amateur boxer and the driving force behind Vmax Elite, specializing in velocity-based training (VBT) and speed, strength, and power development for athletes. With a deep love for sports and functional fitness, Elizabeth has a strong background in both boxing and strength training. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Kinesiology from A.T. Still University, with a dual focus in Strength & Conditioning and Sports Performance & Psychology, expected to graduate in Fall 2025. Additionally, she is working towards her NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification, with an exam date set for end of 2024.
Elizabeth has trained at a competitive level under Coach Socrates Celestial at Kombat Arts, competing in 2021, and has since shifted her focus to helping athletes optimize their performance using data-driven programming and periodization. As a dedicated researcher, she blends her academic expertise with practical application, owning and utilizing a GymAware Flex VBT device for testing and training.
Her passion for boxing continues to inspire her work. She is heavily influenced by Danny Wilson of Boxing Science, known for his science-based strength and conditioning methods, and admires fighters like Katie Taylor, Mikaela Mayer, and Canelo Alvarez, alongside Lomachenko for his footwork and angles, and Dmitry Bivol for his style and power.
Elizabeth also trains extensively in hardstyle and functional kettlebells, which she considers an exceptional modality for boxers, as kettlebells combine strength and conditioning in one tool, making them highly efficient for athletes looking to optimize performance.
Elizabeth is dedicated to advancing the sport of boxing, particularly in areas that are under-researched. She is passionate about contributing to the growth of the sport through coaching, athlete development, and furthering the scientific research that underpins high-performance training.
